Help Shape the Future of Cherry Street

The City of Sumas is gathering resident feedback to help shape the future of State Route 9/Cherry Street. The City is partnering with Western Washington University students and faculty from the Urban Planning & Sustainable Development program to turn community input into potential design concepts.

The project focuses on Cherry Street between Garfield Street and Front Street and explores improvements such as safer sidewalks, bridge options, flood resilience, and opportunities to support local businesses. The goal is to create a safer, more vibrant Cherry Street—shaped by the people who live here.
